A flash mob, silent but eloquent...At Jean-Talon Market, with high school students and our francophone partners of Amnesty International Canada, a flashmob attracted the attention of passers-by. On Sunday, June 12, from 11am to 15h, we met with the public at the centre of the market place for a relaxing day, both artistic and representing our solidarity. The dangers of child labour were presented through an information table and <<flash mobs>> during the day.
Students at Lindsay Place High School performed in the heart of Jean-Talon Market to mark the World Day against Child Labour. These youths symbolized child labor for 215 million working children. The young man in the hat and the cigar was their employer, while children are a vulnerable workforce, and often exploitable by their employers. 200 people were informed of the issues of child labor during the day thanks of the mobilization and efforts of all.
