imagine...

Imagine a world.

  • in which every child's basic right to proper health, proper nutrition, and quality education is respected;
  • in which special protection is provided to underprivileged and physically challenged children as well as to victims of natural disasters, extreme poverty, armed conflicts, and other forms of violence;
  • in which child education is a global, well-established practice;
  • in which an adolescent's right to proper health and development is recognized.

In other words, imagine a world in which children's basic needs are made a priority.

News from the Rainbow Centre

At the end of November 2005, Roxana Robin, General Director, began her three-month visit to the Rainbow Centre, during which she oversaw the construction phase of the new Centre. Here’s what she had to say shortly after arriving at the Centre.

Hello everyone,

I arrived at the Rainbow Centre a little over a week ago and would like to give you all a quick update on the situation over here. The children are simply amazing—they look radiant and happy—but they still suffer greatly from vitamin deficiencies. However, this will soon change. We now have a car and can easily drive to the city every day to buy fresh fruits and vegetables. This will significantly improve the children’s diet.

A few months ago, the Centre welcomed a little boy who lost three fingers in a work accident. The child is a joy to watch and is extremely gifted in school, dance, music, etc. He seems to have a talent for everything.

We’ve already accepted two new children into the Centre. The parents came to us asking if we could please take them in. We didn’t have the heart to say no, especially since the children fit the profile of exploited victims. The little boy is about 6 or 7 and worked on a farm, and the little girl must be about 12 years old and worked in a shrimp factory.

Well, that’s about it. The construction of the new building has begun, and with that we will be able to accept many more children.

Take care,

Roxana Robin
General Director of the CCI
