CCI - India

Children's Care International-India (CCI-India) was created in 2005 through the initiative of professionals and business people in New Delhi . Touched by CCI's commitment and mission to fight against child slavery, these people took the steps towards incorporating a local non-profit organization that would continue, and facilitate, CCI's work in that country.

Six members (four Indian and two CCI representatives) currently make up CCI-India's board of directors. CCI-India is a corporation-in-trust in compliance with the rules outlined by the federal government of India . CCI-India will focus on managing the Rainbow Centre , which was opened in 2003 by Children's Care International, and on running the second centre for children of Tsunami-devastated regions which will open in the Spring of 2006.

ARDAR

In June 2003, CCI opened the Rainbow Centre in Andra Pradesh , India . The Centre is managed in collaboration with ARDAR ( www.ardar.org ), a non-governmental organization that, for the past 14 years, has been working with local communities in desperate need of help. ARDAR is active in Vizianagaram, home of the Rainbow Centre and one of the poorest districts of India , as well as in the surrounding fishing villages and slum areas. The organization helps local inhabitants take charge of their lives and improve their living conditions by establishing, among other things, loan co-operatives and direct business groups. In certain key communities, ARDAR also offers community health services and pre-school education, and help teach adults how to read and write. Oxfam and Actionaid help subsidize ARDAR's activities.

Business Partners

CCI has begun creating partnerships with companies (manufacturers, wholesalers, retailers, craftsmen, and artists) that produce and sell fair-trade products and that want to be a part of an internationally reputable humanitarian cause. In exchange for a percentage of profits on selected items, a window on CCI's website is provided at no cost.

As such, CCI wishes to reach a wide range of people in hopes that everyone will join the fight to end child exploitation.

Vertimonde supplies environmentally-friendly and fair trade jute grocery bags. A percentage each bag's sale price is donated to CCI/AIPE.

EcoHosting is a socially responsible web hosting and web development company that is pledging to donate 20% of its hosting revenues to its clients' favorite charities. You, or any of your colleagues, can thus make a donation to CCI/AIPE by choosing to host your Internet website with EcoHosting.
