Following a literary contest offered by CCI in 2009-2010, an album was assembled containing the participants’ entries. These were accompanied by drawings created by the students of St.-Rosaire de Gaspe (Quebec) school. 75 people celebrated with us the 100th International Women's Day by saying STOP ! to the trafficking of young girls!
On the 8th of March, the CCI team held a meeting with the public, based around the projection of a special film: BAS! Beyond the Red Light. 75 people participated in the cinema-discussion and chose to look at the hard reality of the trafficking of young girls for the sex industry. The film producer Denis McCready was also present. The participants were able to take part in the Correspondances project. The Rescue Foundation of India Received 2010 Asia Democracy and Human Rights Award
The annual Asia Democracy and Human Rights Award (ADHRA) was established by the
Taiwan Foundation for Democracy in 2006 to encourage individuals or organizations that
have made significant contributions to promoting democracy and advancing human rights through peaceful means in Asia. 2010 Asia Democracy and Human Rights Award would be given to India’s Rescue Foundation for praising them to rescue, rehabilitate and repatriate unfortunate girls and women who are trafficked from different parts of India Nepal and Bangladesh. Rescue Foundation is the largest NGO in India in saving human
trafficking victims, and it is also the only NGO providing integrated services for these
girls to get back to the society. Education and vocational training are essential to help young girls starting over. CCI is proud to support the Rescue Foundation in the construction of a school for those girls. >>>

What’s new about our project in Thailand
In partnership with the Mathieu-Lafond Foundation in Canada, and the Foundation for Child Development (FCD) in Thailand, CCI opened the Santikham Centre in a Bangkok suburb, so as to help child labourers and their families who are in Thailand illegally. >>>

Christine Durocher, Chair of CCI’s Board, is just back from a mission to India. She confides that : « I was so nervous yesterday while I got ready for my visit to the school, just as if I were going on a romantic date.
