Two reasons for celebrations at CCI !
On November, 20th, the International Community (IC) will celebrate the 21th anniversary of the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC). Today, CCI is finalist for the YMCA Peace Medal 2010 on behalf of Devi, Dhanna, Apiyamma, Ammorru, Laïla, Pydiraju, Yerrama and about a hundred of children.

Thanks to CCI’s commitment in the struggle for child rights, Laïla (who is orphan since her mother has been burnt by her husband), is tasting again joys of happy childhood and education. Thanks to CCI’s unremitting effort to fight against child labour, Ammorru and Pydiraju were able to give up a dangerous fishing activity so as to continue their school education. Thanks to CCI’s continuous devotion to fight against forced marriage and girls under-education, Dhanna and Devi, two young teenagers, are in a position to continue their studies. Today, they get the best marks in their district and they dare to dream of a career as a doctor or a social worker. Thanks to CCI’s unfailing effort to restore dignity and financial self-support to women, Apiyamma was able to start up her own sewing company. She planned to expand her business to the neighbouring villages.
Every year, CCI is going into action to upset disinterest and also to remind everyone’s responsibility regarding children throughout the world and our own future. Building peace is possible child by child : CCI is building peace day after day.
