A new professional formation center for girls, sponsored by The Rescue Foundation... and moreJuly 2011 Since 2010, CCI has been in partnership with the Rescue Foundation, an Indian organization battling sex traffic. They are noted for having freed close to 300 young girls every year from the sex trade in India. The Rescue Foundation frees these young girls, gives them shelter, nurses them (in every possible way), and contributes to their rehabilitation and reinsertion into society. View “The Struggle against Sex Trade” summary file >>> CCI went into partnership with The Rescue Foundation in order to allow them to add a key element which will allow them greater success in their efforts to reinsert these young girls into future society. It is to that effect that CCI supports the construction of a professional formation center. It also encourages the development of professional formation programs adapted to the needs of these young girls. The New Training CenterThis new center will allow us to free public spaces (such as halls and cafeteria) which , due to lack of space, were being used for courses. This center will help us improve the management and scheduling of the courses. It will also contribute to a better quality of teaching as well as to a more pleasant and lasting learning experience for these young girls. Both teaching and learning will take place in a location suited to their specific needs.
While visiting India in March 2011, Christine Durocher found that the center was almost ready. Actually, the girls have already visited and are looking forward to its inauguration. New Computers for Computer science coursesThe Rescue Foundation was able to purchase 6 computers for its Mumbai center thanks to the CCI’s support. Since then, computer science courses are being offered and 15 young girls benefit from them every day. Two courses in Basic Windows, MS Office 2007, Adobe Photoshop and Pagemaker are offered each and every day. These courses which include both theory and practice will allow them to develop diverse competencies in computer science. These competencies are then highly transferable to a variety of decent jobs. The computers will also be helpful to them in their search for employment: looking for jobs, preparing a CV or even applying on line for certain posts. Here are a few photos, taken on a follow-up visit in March 2011 by Christine Durochers, CCI president.
The girls are supported by their teachers in learning to use the new electronic tools. The workshops format favors team work. The girls take notes and learn the various uses and functions of the different programs.
